Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from March of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

He rescued 4 initial opportunities in a close third set before the Russian broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
